Why Peaceful Touch?

Need

Could there be an antidote to the violence we see every day in our world?

Could it begin with you and me, and with our children?

Could it really be effective (as research now tells us) in 5 to 10 minutes of practice a day?

Could we relearn the ancient wisdom of touch and grow this beneficial practice?

We believe the answer to every question above is YES.

Intention

While Peaceful Touch is an approach to use with children ages 3 through 8, it is clear that the benefits reach into families and communities and cultures. Hans Axelson, the founder of Axelsons Institute in Stockholm where Peaceful Touch work originated, is very clear of his intention to "start a Peaceful Touch revolution."

Effectiveness

Teachers who integrate Peaceful Touch into their classrooms know that the approach addresses many day to day needs of teachers: classroom management, group bonding, fostering individuality and creativity.

Parents who practice Peaceful Touch at home consistently report positive results. And research specific to Peaceful Touch with children ages four and five indicates a significant decrease in aggression. See Resources page to download the article.
